Last night we had a crazy storm. The lightning was in the distance at bedtime; we thought it was heat lightning. Then, around 1am it became clear that the increasing frequency and velocity of the lightning and thunder that this storm was serious. I was awakened by a dream – Sam and Charlie were yelling at me in my tent – waving their flashlights in the tent. When I awoke and didn’t see anyone around, it became clear that the lightning had been the “flashlight”. Another look revealed others scrurrying around, so I ran out to help cover the freshly poured concrete. The lightning lit the process.

The day went by fast – lunch was amazing – we are so spoiled here! Surprise brownies for the birthday girl- Jocelyn. Yesterday was Andrew’s birthday – surprise cake!
Taking off the formwork – figuring out critical details of the columns (must complete the formwork today!) Figuring out the roof structure, interior wall elevations, make the formwork for the retaining wall. Concrete guy is coming Wednesday morning at 10am – then we’ll have time time off.

I am in a dual Masters program in Architecture and Urban Design at the University of North Carolina Charlotte. I am participating in the RAW Dakota 2011 workshop in Custer, SD July 13-27, 2011 and blogging about the experience. Thoughts you'd like to add? Thanks for reading! – Keihly Moore
